Upfitter Integration Best Practice Manuals provide engineering recommendations and guidelines to assist the Special Vehicle Manufacturer (SVM) for all areas of the vehicle affected in the conversion process. These guidelines generally reflect industry recognized processes and procedures that are intended to help the upfitter maintain the safety, reliability, and integrity of the vehicle original design, as well as comply with any state, federal, or industry requirements.

The Upfitter Integration group recommends that all SVMs become familiar with these manuals and the reference publications listed before starting the process.

The conversion and modification of vehicles requires skills and knowledge not covered in this guide. General Motors, and its representatives, assume no responsibility for the upfitters’ work, their design, materials, and/or workmanship.
